Ever dreamed of seeing some of the largest animals on earth? Then join our team of marine biologists for a Whale Watching trip in Faro ! During spring, Fin whales use our rich waters to feed before continuing their journey. In this time of the year other whales such as the Minke whales and Bryde whales can be spotted near shore! Occasionally Humpback whales also pass through Faro with their iconic fluking-dives! We run the tour with small groups only (up to 12 people). By joining this tour you are actively contributing to our research projects, as we use it to collect data and funds for research surveys.

Itinerary & Information

Before departure, participants will have a briefing regarding the activity and its rules. The boat will cruise throughout Ria Formosa Natural Park into the Atlantic Ocean. In the meantime, 1 or 2 "Lookouts" are placed in Land looking for whale blows while maintaining contact with the boat crew. Our team of Marine Biologists on board will be focused on finding whales and dolphins from the boat as soon as we are out in the ocean. The most sighted species is the Fin Whale - the 2nd largest animal in our planet - followed by Minke whales. Bryde whales, Orcas & False Killer whales - as well as Pilot whales - can also be spotted sometimes during the trip. The biologists will be gathering valuable scientific data for research while providing an educative approach to the participants.
